Her special interest in Chronic Illness expanded from both her professional and personal involvement with Chronic Illness. Afflicted with a respiratory disease since childhood she has had to work with and around the ever-present and often disrupting impact of a chronic disease. She has had it firmly reinforced by others that her personal journey has richly informed her capacity to work with others who are also dealing with a Chronic Illness. She has run training programs to educate other health professionals about Chronic Illness as distinct from acute or terminal illness, and is actively engaged in generating more helpful and healthful discussion and education amongst the health and helping professionals.
